Lynda was one of our honor graduates, graduating 49th in our class of over 700. The “Senior Activities” section in our year book indicated the following activities:
Concert Band 1, 2, 3; Marching Band 1, 2, 3; Concert Orchestra
1, 2, 3; Opti-Miss 1, 2, 3; Tri-M 3; 1st Lieutenant In Band 3;
Treasurer of Band 3; Chairman of Brasswinds In Orchestra 3;
District Band and Orchestra Contest 2, 3; State Band and
Orchestra Contest 2, 3; All State Orchestra 2, 3; District Solo
Contest 2, 3; State Solo Contest 2, 3; State Orchestra Tour 1, 2, 3.
Jim Harris, from our class , told me that she drowned while scuba diving in the late 60’s or early 70’s on the Gulf Coast. He believed she was married. He also told me that her father worked for William Lehman (auto dealer in Miami). Bill Lehman, his son, graduated in 1959. In conversation with Bill, he said that Lynda’s father worked for his dad at a dealership in Selma, Alabama. Bill spoke with his mother and she recalled that Lynda died on the Gulf Coast. She believed she was living in Selma, Alabama at the time and was on vacation when she drowned.
After quite a bit of searching in Alabama records, I found that Lynda J. Boddy was married in February, 1961 to Harold Stanley in Selma (Dallas County), Alabama. I was unable to find a phone number for Harold Stanley.
